Opinions on this amplifier? Guy local is strapped for cash, selling it for $100. I'm lookin to push 2 comp vx's with it.

RMS Power
2x475@ 4O
2x 850@ 2O
1x1700@ ?O

If I remember correctly I've heard nothing but good about Power Acoustik...but I could be confusing them with another brand. Any input from y'all would be great :)

:-P Shushabitchup Ryan lol

I have this feeling, just a hunch, I have it confused with something else...dunno what Im thinking of though. ANYWAY, question is, For $100, is it worth it?

Oh, and I am an audiophile, I just don't have the money, nor the time to build my own shit, I just like listening to other people's money...err systems :D

power acoustic isn't bad for the price if your wanting to run a budget system and don't really have any plans of getting bigger and better go with them you could do a whole lot worse

The Apache models haven't been around for a while... I don't think I would be willing to drop $100bucks for a middle of the road amp that's that old... If it were a high end amp by a really good manufacturer it would be different...
Heck there is a lot of 3 of that same model on ebay that's bid at $25 bucks + $60 shipping right now: http://cgi.ebay.com/LOT-of-3-Power-Acoustik-Apache-2200-2ohm-Amps-NR_W0QQitemZ170066528494QQihZ007QQcategoryZ18796QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

give him 50 bucks if not dont get it. and an audiophile that is on a budget still wouldnt get that amp and wouldnt have those subs either. if you want to be an audiophile and save some money go look at zed audio amps. their mono block is about 260 bucks and it will push those subs perfect if they have the right vc config.

I'm way worse than on a budget. WAY worse. (I think...) my signature says, but I drive a 1990 toyota supra. Cars are known for constant problems, and so far the car has held up to it's reputation.

The reason I'm going for compvx's is because I work at a circuit city selling their junk, so I can get them for $90 each. I figured it would be cheaper and probably about the same quality to buy the Power Acoustiks for $80-100 than it would be to buy 2 kicker 750.1's at $175 each.

Does my post seem more valid now? Probably not. I know that there is MUCH better stuff on the market, I just can't afford it. If It were up to me I'd be runnin some XXX's or Treo's or something equivalent. BUT, since it's up to money I think I'll stick with the comvx's for now.

SO, back to the question. WILL the amp be decent enough to power the subs fully, without me having to worry about it breaking for about a year or so?

Well since CC doesn't carry alpine anymore, that's a little hard. Besides that I think Type R's sound like shit.

No matter, customer the other day decided he wanted to just let us have his 10w0 and box, so I grabbed one of the free amps we had laying around and powered it up, and it's plenty enough to fill out the bass instead of my 4" speakers :D
