BIOS Problem

So I ordered a pretty new fan/heatsink to replace the extremely loud fan in my computer. I pulled everything out yesterday to get it mounted up and found that I don't have the original mounting bracket anymore, so I just cleaned everything up and reinstalled the old stuff. Plugged everything back in and turned it on. "Bad BIOS Checksum". So I download the BIOS, burn it to a CD and stick it in. It reads the BIOS and then says failed. Apparently I fried my BIOS completely. Gotta call up Asus today and see what the hell I can do now. I ordered a new motherboard since they're super cheap now (old 754-pin A64s) but I'm still going to try to get this fixed if it's not too expensive.
The thing that killed me about buying a new motherboard is that 90% of the 754-pin motherboards now use PCI Express. I just bought a new graphics card that's AGP since when I bought my board, there was no mainstream PCI Express stuff. I guess it pays to do some research before you buy new hardware 3 years later.
Done with my rant.

Ok well ASUS is most definitely not going to do anything about that... Same deal happend with my brother, and unless you have some qualifications on PC Repair or installation they will say that you f'ed it up and its your fault...
Just out of curiosity, what kind of Heatsink did u get?

Yea, I wasn't angry at the mobo company or expecting them to fix it. It's 2-3 years old and these kinds of things happen when you DIY. I was just pissed in general that it happened, because I was careful.
I got a sweet heatsink/fan combo.

lol but after u clear the cmos/bios by taking out the battery for a little bit when u reboot go to bios by hitting f1, f2, or delete one of those should work and once you r into there fix everything like date and time...and then save it..let me kno if this does/doesnt work..ive had many problems while buidling my and my friends computers lol..thank god for my dad working at a place where i got some free lcd touchscreens...although they wernt nice to him in the end.. :)

^^^ I completely forgot about that ... Take that battery out and then when you put it back in make sure that everything is completely secure... Check your connections to the board and what not...
On a similar note, My mother is the lead comp/ network engineering tech here at my workplace so she knows everything about that stuff too lol

All copper for me :)
I'm not sure if my heatsink is actually going to clear the top of the case. It's HUGE. If not, I'll trim the fins back a little, I don't care.
None of the those things will work because the computer won't even start the BIOS. I think it's physically damaged somehow.
