I have a 2005 hyundai accent hatchback and i was wondering which way is the best way to face the subs(to the rear or to the front) and if i should have a sealed or ported enclousure for loudness.

If you want your sub to be louder, you will want to go with a ported enclosure. I would not reccommend a pre-made one though. Buy or make a custom one, you will be a ton happier with it.

For hatchbacks, a "crx" style ported enclosure seems to be the one that works best. I have not had any experience with that car though. A crx style ported enclosure is sub up and port facing the rear. You could even go with a sub forward and port rear, but i havent read too much about people using this style yet. Hopefully our SPL god Bill will chime on this, but a crx style enclosure will probably be louder in a hatchback.

if your going to go with a ported box your best bet is a CRX box like mike AKA swimmer dude said. a sub up rear port box is your best bet.

It isn't the direction the subs are facing, but rather the location of the sub cones in the trunk.
In other words, if you had a sub box facing backwards, with the face of the subs aligned to the centerline of your trunk - and then turned the box around so that it was facing forward with the box pulled back so the face of the box was aligned to the same place that the face was at when the box was facing backwards, you'd hear no difference.

That being said, generally speaking, the farther to the back of the trunk the sub cones are located, the better your results... and that typically means having the sub box facing backwards, since that positions the cones closer to the rear of the trunk.

Here's a good page on the subject:

No - but that's because it's independent of vehicle gain.
That's a completely different phenomenon - and a constant that doesn't change (unless you open a door, or a window, etc. ]because[/i] of the change...
...and if you try the same box from car to car, each car's frequency response signature will be different and unique to that car because of cabin gain. ;)

But trying the entire experiment from car to car, you should see the same result, to different degrees - just as they did in that link (page 2 on Eddie's site).

Ok so I've been reading these posts and im thinking about buying a ported box for my subs, but I am wondering, if I buy a ported box, would I have to re-wire all my shit? and how would I go about getting my subs out of the box that I already have them in

well, it will depend on the sub... what sub are you running Battousai? some subs just dont do very well in ported box.. and vice versa.. some subs to better in ported than sealed..etc..
