First, thanks for reading. I read one of kikiTheCat's posts on a different forum and saw that he? was more active here. I just want a good suggestion for my needs that I have currently.

I currently have a Pioneer 7600MP cd player and am about to purchase an Alpine MRP-M350 amplifier for the car from a friend at a good price. I was wondering what kind of sub you would recommend for this type of setup that would sound pretty good. I don't want to spend a ton of money on this project, so maybe less than $200 for the sub/box/cables? Can that be done?

Also, the car is a 2001 cavalier, not anything to talk of, but I'd like the music to sound pretty good.

Thanks.

an Adire Shiva 12" or one Resonant Engineering RE or SE 12"
vented enclosure
around 300 watts for the sub from a mono class D amp
that'd do nicely

welcome to the boards

Oh sorry, I forgot to say that I was kind of looking for a 10" sub because I'd still like space in my small trunk if possible. Is there a big difference between a 10" and 12" sub box? I'd like to keep the system as compact as possible so not to take up all my room.

Sorry. :)

Thanks for the welcome.

Shiva would be nice, or an RE or SE sub from Resonant Engineering as Kiki stated... or even a Tempest from Adire(only comes in 15" though) :fing02: . you could also look into some JL subs, preferebly W3 or higher, but their W0 line is ok, you would like em... Kicker Comp VR's, Alpine Type R's, MTX 8000 line... check out the FAQ's area and the "good bad ugly" list... i hope you start in the Good area though.. should be fine then :thumbsup

Also, I looked on ebay for both of those brands and could not see either. Who sells these?

Is building a box pretty popular around here? I'd rather not mess with building my own since I don't have the time or expertise so what would be a good suggestion for a 10" speaker. I was looking at the type r's earlier.

I can get the Type-R for about $100... which would be better the type-r or the RE Sub for $59?

Also, I don't see anywhere to purchase on the reaudio website.

you will be better off calling Resonant Engineering, they may be on back order.. not sure about the RE line on how "loud" they can get... although i do like Type R's.. nice subs for the money... building a box is pretty easy... if you take your time and use your head... but if you dont want too, Justin can build you a good 10" sealed box or ported.. last option is a prefab ofcourse... Q Logic makes alright boxes that would fit your needs...

Who's Justin and how much would a box for what I'm looking for cost? :) Thanks again guys.

Do you know of any good sites that show how to make a 10" box? How much is the cost usually to build?
