a/d/s 300i.
In '79 I had these and a Powerplate 100. As a 15 year-old, I thought I was in car-audio heaven.
They even use this speaker now for high-end home in-wall installations

That's pretty good for "first system" type equipment... a/d/s has always been good stuff.
My "first system" stuff consisted of a flea-market box with a pair of no-name eight inch "subs" in a skinny ported box (yeah.. like a 1" tube) with a grab handle on the top and two Piezo horn tweeters built in to the top... it looked more like a boom box than a sub box...

And a Mobile Authority amp that was about the size of a pack of cigarrettes... and didn't cost much more, actually.
One of those "SALE OF THE CENTURY!!!!!!" type pieces of garbage events.

Not even sure of my first system, but I do remember (this is gonna show my age) an original 15" Pyle Dryver that could handle an amazing (at that time) 300Watts max and it was about the baddest thing on the planet... To bad the company never kept up with everybody else.

I got started because a friend gave me his 8" MTX Road Thunder and VR3 amp for helping him move. It sounded like crap. lol. I went from there to... a 12" XXX w/ Orion 2500d. lol. Big change there.
