Double Din in the Tibby?

O.K. I want to put in-dash DVD in both my Kia and My Tiburon. I prefer Double Dins because It just seems to me there is more that can easily go wrong with the motorized screens. I was in the other room comparing my two stock HU and they are exactly the same size (and I believe interchangeable) the only difference is that my Kia's is a single din with a pocket and the tibby has a cd and tape deck there is also a different location on the lower mounting holes on the tibby but I do remember it having screw holes in the same place as the lower holes on the Kia... basically does anyone know if the DD dash kit for the 05 Kia work for the Tibby since Metra doesn't make a DD for it?

From the look of it doing a comparo with American International, alot of the install kits for Kia and Hyundai are the same, so it may work.
You may have to make some small modifications though.

Yeah they are motorized but the motor doesn't have to push out then flip up and all that so it seems that there are more areas where a problem can occur...

Mike:
Hyundai actually owns Kia and when I sell my system in my Kia I may put the Infinity stock from the hyunai in it instead. actually the stock Kia head unit says Hyundai on it... the plugs are identical but I'm gonna double check the wiring diagram to make sure that the pins line up the same but I'm almost sure they do... I may buy one on ebay for 5 bucks and test it out.. if it doesn't work I'll have one for the Kia which I'm gonna need anyway :P

Yeah I already planned on it... First I have to decide which HU I want to put in it.

Decisions, Desicions :p

And yeah I knew Kia and Hyundai were the same company, but with the different styles of the cars, I really didn't think that they would cookie cutter them like that :)

Well it makes sense really... Yeah the exteriors are different but it's more cost effective to keep them interchangeable whenever possible.

Actually, It's a Din and a half... Done a few of those Talons and Eclipses, but with some inginuity you can make a double din fit... It ain't easy though :p
