At what point wattage wise is it necesary to upgrade your alternator, I dont want my headlights to fade really bad when i turn it up, like could just getting a good battery and cap prevent that if i am not running crazy amounts of power

Really depends on the vehicle, some stock alternators are only 90amps with others up to 120amp
A good battery will help along with an uprgrade of the big 3 (Motor to chassis ground, Alt. to Battery Pos., & Battery Neg. to chassis ground).
Try to stay away from capacitors - for the price of some of the big name little ones, you can get your stock alt rewound.

Remember that your battery and capacitors need to be CHARGED to have power in them. Your alternator is the part that PROVIDES the power, so the only way to actually get more power is by upgrading that. The big 3 is the vehicle for this power, so obviously, another required upgrade.
If your headlights are dimming, that's a sign that you need to turn down the volume and upgrade your alternator.

^ lotso great info there
I've found with most vehicles if you're talking an average (say 100 amp alt)
anything above 300wrms will require an upgrade, but that is a really, really rough figure... as I stated before...depends on the vehicle, cause the more things that draw power mean the less you have for add-ons.
