One or two subs?

I have a couple of infinity reference 12's lying around that I was going to put in my wife's car 'till we get some other priorities taken care of. These things are 4ohm single voice coils.

My amp options for now are an infinity 311a mono amp giving 300Wrms at 2 ohms, or a hifonics tx4005 two channel giving 400 Wrms at 4 ohms bridged, which isn't capable of a 2 ohm bridged mono load (I don't think). I'm not sure what the tx is rated for at 4ohms x 2....

So my question is, would it be better to run both subs with the infinity, just one sub with the tx, or both with the tx..?

I think u will be underpowering those subs if u use the Infinity amp and that Hifonics amp is useless to you unless you are going to run just 1 of those subs... Personally i would get something that is 2 ohm stable probably a JBL bp600 thats a solid amp there that will give 600 watts at 2 ohms so thats 300 to each sub if u wire them together.

It it is a class a/b its about 20% less effeciant than a class d would be. But its alot better than most of his other choices. The ideal thing would be a kicker or jbl 600/1, but thats a diffrent story. (as you stated)

I'm not so sure they would underpowered with 300wrms. At one time I was running these same subs with that same amp, and they did all right considering what they were. When moved up to a 600w amp, the difference was not all that great...
