Stock HU with aftermarket amp/subs

Post by stangmang »

I'm looking to hook a amp and 3 12's using my stock HU. This will be going into to 2000 Lincoln LS with Alpine premium system. I was told I could just disconnect the two rear factory subs and splice them into one and straight into the aftermarket amp. Is this the best route to go? What are my other options? I want to retain the factory HU.

Thanks

No don't do that. Since you will be dealing with an amplified signal I would look into the JL Audio clean sweep, or something like it.

I found out I had this already hooked up in my car. Model #P50A

I also have this that came with my new system.

My question is which one is better to use? The scosche loc says it can only be used with JBL or BOSE systems and IDK why that would matter. It also states 80watts per channel and peripheral says 50watts per channel. What does that mean? Can I only get 160watts out of my aftermarket amp. :argh
