why are you worried about the rear doors? They seem like a good set of speakers, but if you are doing components, why not run active on the component set up front?

what would be the advantages of running active

better freqency control if your headunit has an on-board crossover or your amps have on board crossovers. You can fine tune each speaker since it would only have one channel of power per speaker.

Why are you paying more for rear fill than your fronts?????
I adivse spending that $350 on quality front comps and forgetting the rear. You will be light years ahead.

I started thinking the samething. I am looking at using th XS125.4 to run an active setup up front with no rear speakers for now. With that said I will spend about three to four hundred buck for a good set of comps any suggestions

Since you have the 4 channel already, you could go active with some raw drivers and have a pretty nice system for the price.

Very highly regarded mids (Also made in 5.5" and magnesium coned in both sizes). Not sure about which tweeters to run with it (I'm sure some matching Excels would be good).
If you didn't want to spend that much, the Peerless Exclusives are also nice drivers.

Just don't forget, in the DIY world (Madisound, Partsexpress, Creativesound, MCM, Speakercity, E-speakers, Zalytron, Acoustic-Visions and others) the prices are usually each. Seas are great speakers, just remember those are $150 each, not a pair. Dayton RS drivers at about $40 each from parts express are also very highly regarded.

FYI guys, his headunit won't support an active setup, and he would be giving up his rear fill for his DVDs. So I talked it over with him, and he is going to run the Bravox carbon fiber 2 ways, and add in some mid bass in his rear doors later.
