Anyone ever see this before?

I was surfing DIY home audio speaker pages and came across something interesting. Grounding the speaker basket to the negative speaker terminal. The guy says it improves midrange clearity and sound. Anyone ever heard of this?

One guy who tried it said he tried it like the picture and tried it directly to the basket and said going to the basket itself was noticably better.

Thoughts?

I cant understand what it would do, if anything.

If it was bolted to a metal structure it might help cancel out any sound if they were cheap wires, but not seeing where it would have a big impact.

And that's insulation around the bottom. Use to be done a lot with home speakers.

The basket isn't in the electrical circuit - and since the electrical circuit is an electromagnetic circuit, I wouldn't want to MAKE it electromagnetic - although by simply attaching one lead, you wouldn't.

Hell, you could take one lead and touch it to your tongue, and it wouldn't do anything, because you just simply don't have a circuit.

Always be hesitant of what you read on DIY home audio forums - you think car audio has mythis? :D There are huge numbers of people out there who I believe see all the outragious claims out there, and think they'll be "cool" or something if they come up with an outragious claim of their own. :p
