How do you go about getting your vehicle repaired after someone else hits you? (Accident occured 8/19/06)

They have insurance and I've gotten a letter in the mail from their insurance company with the policy and claim numbers on it, and something about motor vehicle repair disclosure information.

What do I do now? Do I call the adjuster whos name is on it, do I run out and get a bunch of estimates, or do I do what Im doing now...seek advice?

Have you contacted your insurance agency? If so tell them the information you have gotten and have the Police Report faxed over to them. along with any information necessary... They usually contact the other persons INsuracnce company and from there they usually tell you of a place where your vehicle will be fixed... At least thats what has happened for my father in the past

If the police are not involved nobody will do squat.

Plus it all differs from state to state ;)

The insurance company will try to screw you over...

Some retard ran a read light and smacked the front of my sisters car, it spun her around 3-4 times and effectively totalled her car...

Now she had it towed to my uncles house where it stayed for 3-4 days until the adjuster came, he said that it was totalled and that it needed to be towed to their lot and that she should have a check in a few days...

Well about 4 weeks pasted and nothing happened, she called and they said it'll only be a few more days... This continued for 3-4 MORE weeks... Finally she called and they said they could give her 700 dollars ...

The car (95 olds achieva) was in perfect condition, and the blue book was twice this much, not to mention they had to reimburse her for tow frees (100.00 bucks) as well rental car fee's...

I called them back and explained that they had 24 hours to make an resonsible offer or they could start talking to a laywer... About 15 mins later they gave her full blue book vaule and some of the other fee's... She still got screwed, but it could of been worse...

The moral of the story, either stay on their butts, or they'll stay on yours. :surprised

Thanks a bunch to all who responed and to those who will respond. :)

I don't know how this is going to go, but the lady who hit my car is
insured by Farmers.

The dealer who is going to do the repairs is Demondtrond. This dealership
is "A Circle of Dependability Shop" meaning that they have an in-house Farmer's adjuster on site, and Enterprise Rent-a-car is there on site for me to leave with a rental car.

I have my list of repairs, just incase the adjuster tries to overlook somethings. I hope they don't try to cheat me. The accident caused the "Service Vehicle Soon" light to come on. My car has 60,000 miles on it, but it was in excellent running condition before this. I have a bumper to bumper extended warranty on it up to 100,000 miles to prove it.

Hopefully things will turn out right...I will say a pray just incase. :bigwink:
