Are people really that dumb to pay more then double? As far as I can tell it's the same book?

I really think eBay benefits from people wanting to 'win' an action and achieve victory over other bidders. I'lll admit that in the past I have been tempted to bid higher because someone out bidded me, but I am able to stick to what I consider to be the value of a particular item.
