Okay so i'm starting college pretty soon and i'm probably going to bring my laptop with me every once in a while. anyway, i'd never keep it in the front of my car visible, so iw as wondering if i'd be safe putting the laptop in my trunk, near the subs.. it'd be in a case. But i'm worried about the magnets *******with the hard drive... if thats all going to be a problem/

Exactly how near are you talking?
If you slide it in right next to your box, then you might be at some risk, but if you put it on the firing side you should be alright at about 6 inches or more away.

yeah it'd probably be right next to the subs.

As I said, you may be at some risk it being that close.
You have to figure that something as small as a fridge magnet on a computer can do significant damage.
Myself I'd slide it under the seat if it would fit.

we got a shipment of comps in a few months ago and i was installing one and still had it in the box, i came into the office and set it on the counter about 12" from the computer and the monitor went ant shit..........

lol. i guess i'll not put the laptop in the trunk. no way its giong to fit under the seat. i'll just have to put it in the car. i'll cover it with my books or something.

people will steal anything given the opportunity, i once had someone steal a bible from my truck, i guess in the leather case they thought it was something electronic....weird thing is they left it in a mailbox, the mailman picked it up, it went to the post office, they found my name and a program from church inside and called my church who called me and gave me the name of the guy at the post off ice holding it for me and i called him and went and picked it up....

As far as the laptop. Maybe you could fab up some kinda fake floor panel for the back seat to throw over it.

just keep it in a normal looking bookbag. most people would only think there are some notebooks and whatnot in there if its in a car. a big enough one to fit your whole laptop case would be great.

I had my XXX about 4 feet away from my monitor and my monitor was pulling. Crazy how powerful those magnets are. I wouldn't stick my laptop next to it :-\
