So I just had my equipment stolen from my boat and need some new stuff. I'm looking at putting 2-3 8" subs (space is very scarce) and 6 new 6.5" coax's. I was looking at the JL 8W7's but does anybody have any experience with these? Is there decent SPL? Any other recommendations? What about the loudest 6.5" coax's. I have a set-up for 6 of them. I had Infinity kappa's in there before and they were OK but looking for better. Thanks for the help..

for high spl the ONLY 8 inch sub thats falls under that category is the 8W7, there actually not 8 they have cone area closer to a 10, since there overoll surround gives you more cone area all subs have a huge advantage over subs of same size.

Thanks. That's what I expected but hoped for a less expensive sub for the same category. What about feedback on LOUD 6.5" coax's. In a boat, the wind distorts the sounds so the louder, the better. Thanks..

Speakers for boats are no different then cars.. Just looking for the loudest 6.5" coax's I can find.... Kappa's didn't cut it. How about focual, CDT, or JL Audio? Should those blow away the kappas?

Actually that is false.
They weatherproof marine speakers. You definetly do NOT want a pulp cone in said enviroment. You need aluminum or Poly cone.

Agreed but nobody makes a high-end marine speaker. EVERYBODY uses high end car audio equipment for their boats. The speakers do not get wet where we put them. Just looking for some help on high-end loud 6.5 coax's if anybody has some advice.

There really isn't much highend coaxial speakers. You would have to look into components to find what you are looking for. Look into: Morel, Rainbow, Adire, Image Dynamics, Focal, JL Audio's XR line, CDT, Resonant Engineering, etc. If you buy an amp to go with them, you should have it as loud as you'd want.
My issue with Kappas are the lacking midbass. They did go pretty loud though, and sound good.

The problem is the box I have "custom fiberglass box made specifically for my boat tower" is for 6 6.5" coax's. I'd have to go with another big expensive box and that's going to work. Power is not an issue, I have the amps, I just need to find louder coax's (if they make them).
I tried to attach a pic to show the box but don't think it worked

You have to scroll down when you reply to the "attach files" dialouge.
You need Componets ors Braxials.
CDT!
