Ok, hey guys im new here, all this caraudio now is a hobbyto me, but anyway im struggling and need help. All the following info, i gathered from reading tonnes.
I have 2 kicker subs and want to buy a amplifier soon and want to hook it all up to my car- duh.
Why im posting is so when i get my amp, i know what to do.
First, What I would do is unplug the batter.
2. Mount the Amp and ground it by wiring it to the car body
3. Getting the remote on/ Antenna Power cable from the Head Unit and Connecting it to the -'ve Amp
4. Connecting RCA cables from Head Unit to Amp
5. RCA output cables from Amp- connect Subs
- I have a doubt here, where do i connect the tweaters and Mid ranges, do i just directly connect them to the Head Unit, or do i use RCA output cables from Amp to "hook em up".
6.Connect Wire from Positive terminal of Battery to a fuse, from fuse use more cabling, connect to +'ve terminal of amp.
That seems about it. However now i got a few more questions.
A.This being my first installation, believe it or not, i've never physically touched/seen a amp, are all ports labelled, ie- "power,+'ve" -cable from battery etc,
B.
1- When installing a new Deck/Head Unit, do i strip each wire and match colors, or is it a simple plug.
2- Also does the remote on/ antenna wire, come from the deck, then to the amp, or doesnt come from the deck at all and directly to Amp.
3 -Are all these wires connected to a plug which i have to physically rip out.
Thanks in advance, sorry for all the questions

Welcome aboard. Let me break this all down for you.
1) Unhook the battery
2) Mount the amplifier where you want it, just do not mount it upside down.
3) Run proper size power wire from Battery + to the AMplifiers 12V+
4) Run remote wire from Amplifier Turn on (If applicable) otherwise use power antenna wire.
5) Hook RCAs into the head unit to approriate RCAs out- off the back of the deck.
6) Run the RCA's on the other side of the car WITHOUT the power wire.
7) Ground the amplifier to a SOLID piece of metal in the car. Sand the paint away until you have a nice SMOOTH METAL surface. Secure with appropriate fastner.
8) Wire speakers for proper operation.
A) It is all labeled!
B)
1- purchase a Wiring Harness for your particular car. It will include directons for what color is what, but 99% of the time the colors are matched up.
2- The power turn on/antenna/amp turn on wire comes off the radio's wiring harness. Then you run it directly to the amps remote turn on connection.
3- As stated in #1- BUY THE WIRING HARNESS! If you attempt to cut the factory harness off you will be in a WORLD OF TROUBLE!!!

run the power cable first.
then run your interconnects
then ground cable
then mount the amp.
otherwise the amp will be bolted down and it's harder to position the amp to meet good cable positions, and harder to get the carpets up to run the cables.
upgrade the 'big 3' with the same size cable as you run for the amp and ground, too.
-motor to frame
-alternator to battery
-battery to ground
the new head unit has a REM wire, usually blue. that goes to the amplifier to tell the amp to turn on and off. to wire the head unit, buy a mounting kit for your kind of car, and the proper wiring harness adapters.
then you wire the harness adapters to the new radio according to the labeled wire colors. never just try to match colors up.
after this, you just plug the radio into the factory harnesses and screw the mounting brackets into place. all done, and total cost for the kit and harnesses is about $20-30

Wow, nice, thanks guys, i understand it alot better now. However one thing still seems a bit unclear. Can somone show me a diagram or pic of what the wires acctually look like, after i take the deck. Im assuming a white clip with all the leads, but from there, some are saying - "plug the radio into the factory harnesses and screw the mounting brackets into place" if i was to do that, where do i find the remote on wire. What im gonna do know is rip out the stock standard deck for an old chrysler to get a better idea.

Man, that site is shit, hardly link works, and i dont want specific installation depending on type of car however how to install a deck in general.I looked at the wiring and stuff for a few diff. decks and have an idea but im wonder about the following.
- If i was to Use a wire Harness, do all specific car makes have custom harness's
- If i was to Use a Wire harness, do i just match the colours
- If i was to test and join wires directly to the deck how many wires are their to join. from what i know, correct me if im wrong
-If i turn off the ignition and test a wire and it has power- its the mem, wire
-i put the car ignition on "red" test another wire, if it has power then however no power when car is totally off, that cable is the power cable i would use.*this wire would aslo be the one i would connect to power negetive terminal of Amp.
- All the other cables would be the Audio cables ie left, reight, rear front etc.
Is all that correct. Please correct, what i may have incorrect

if you buy a wire harness they usually just hook right on up. from my experience if you want to just "join" the wires together, your factory wires should be labeled... if not then just match the colors (like blue wire with white lines to another wire with lines, dont get me wrong i dont do it just like that but i cant really explain things to well). most wires will be colored match or pretty close.. and do not have your car on while doing this, have it off and then turn it on to see if it worked. if it is too much of a hassle a shop should be able to do this for pretty cheap. your cars owners manual should have the wires listed and so should your cd players manual. also what i do is just cut the remote wire, strip it and twist the remote wire from the amp with the remote wire from the cd player, and put some electrical tape over and and voi-la!.
