This review is of the panasonic CQ DF903U (head unit). This deck is not owned by me but my cousin. However, I do spend ALOT of time in his truck so I do know this deck decently well.

Heres the review:

It's a pretty nice deck that has three sets of 5 volt preamps (front, rear and subwoofer). As far as control you get volume, bass and treble, balance and fader, subwoofer level, subwoofer low pass filter (80hz & 120hz).

Adjusting the volume (Rotary Knob) is a big no-no on bumpy roads, usually if you try to do so the volume will get spiked all the way up or down (yeah, its that touchy.) You're best/safe bet in this type of situation is to use the remote control.

The display though is rather nifty, you can choose through several different screens, much like the pioneer decks of the same time period.

The deck has been going strong for about 2 years now with no problems what so ever, even with dirty cds being jammed into it.

If there was a wee bit more control of the equalization this would be a really nice deck, otherwise its a pretty decent deck that will suit most people just fine.

With that being said, I still probably recommend something else for the money.

where i work we are a panasonic and a pioneer dealer and i like the panasonics because they do not protrude so far from the dash, even the models with the fold down faces and motorized faces do not protrude as much as a pioneer of any model...i think the bumpy road thing would apply to any volume control though....overall i think youve given a fair review though i tend to disagree with other decks out there for the money....
