i just put in my new sub and amp and i get in my blazer and i of course turn the radio up to see how she sounds and its f***** incredible but then i change the song and nothin. no bass. it turns out i blew the fuse but i mean i had it put in by a "professional" at my local stereo store. The people put in these things everyday and still cant do it right. I just kinda think its bs.

Anybody got any similar stories???

Blowing a fuse is okay, they cost like 50 cents :) Go take your truck back and let them know what happen. They will fix it free of charge.

unfortunately if you bought a wire "kit" they usually come with a 30 amp fuse to go under the hood and a lot of installers wont bother to upgrade that fuse and then it blows....that is assuming you are talking about the fuse under the hood....

is that true or a myth cuz ive heard alot of people say it is and a lot of people say it isnt

also i had a 10" alpine type x with a mrd-m1005 amp installed

Yea i took it back and they were cool about he said he accidentally put a 40 amp fuse in instead of a 60 watt fuse so they fixed it all for free thank god they paid for the fuse cuz im tryin to save up for a soda jk

I prefer to let the subs loosen up at moderate volume for a number of hours before cranking it, but you don't have to.
understand when the driver is new, the spider and moving parts are stiff, and the sub's response won't sound natural at first.
After about 20 hours of good use, the sub will start to take on it's permanant timbre, and sound better.. so don't be surprised if it sounds a bit bad at first, and gets better later.

My shop left me with my gain on my amp turned up all the way because the guy said the amp isn't strong enough to blow.

Left me with a horrible engine noise, when I took it back to them, they said I needed to buy a new head unit because my head unit was the problem. Found out they ran the wires all on the same side. So the RCAs were next to the power/ground wire. Had to fix it myself.

doesn't matter.
running signal and power together won't induce noise.
running signal lines close to ignition system wiring or by a crossover will, though.
the noise is beiing caused by your amplifier. having the gain all the way up is clipping the hell out of your signal, and whiile it may not thermally damage the sub, it can mehanically damage it, and it will still sound like ass.
your shop is staffed by n00bs.
