:( I screwed up!

Post by Robert Wollenberg »

In building my door pods, I screwed up building them. Originally when I was making them I had a plan to account for where they dash was going to interfear them. However, I've been taking so long to build them only doing little things every now and then that I forgot about my plan and now they don't fit. Not even close. lol.

So, after much pouting and sulking last night and feeling really sorry for myself, I've decided to take a step back and re-evaluate the situation.

I've decided not to use my Focals. I'm going to save those for a house project down the road. And I'm also not sure about the DLS tweet I've got either. Not that I think it's a bad tweet or anything, just that I have a rather unconventional idea that I'm thinking about trying and wanted to throw past you guys.

I'm thinking about fiberglassing a pair of these into my kickpanels. http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl ... er=264-712

As for a mid in the door, I'd like to find one mid, doesn't really matter what size it is, that can handle down to about 50hz on the low end and maybe up to about 500hz.

I'm just throwing around ideas.

So, what do you think of the Neo8s, maybe a suggestion for a mid to go with it ... or do you think it's a bad idea?

Yea looks good. Maybe some Extremis' for the mids :)
Do you know how low those Neo8's can go before there's trouble? I've heard you've got to be careful with planars and ribbons.

Ribbon's more so than planers as I understand it. I haven't been able to find much on them but what I have found has been pretty positive.

I also found these, which I really like, but they're too expensive. These are true ribbons. http://www.madisound.com/cgi-bin/index. ... 2&pid=1890

As for mids, I've looked at several. Extremis being one of them. I'm in no hurry so I'll be doing lots of reading and considering before I buy anything. I'm so upset about the door pod issue I just need a break before reattacking.

When I come up with some mid potentials, I'll post them. Maybe later this afternoon.

Well, I was checking out the crossover points from my deck and they won't allow me to utilize a planer very well at all. So, I'm going to glass the DLS UR-1 tweeters into the kicks and just replace the mid in the door. I'm looking for anything up to 8" that will play well up to about 2k. I'll probably cross the tweets at 2,500 at 12db and play around with the mid crossover points until they sound good. But that was the crossover point and slope DLS recommended for them. It will be my starting point at least.

So, searching for a mid now.
