Here is the Question

Ok, So I am headed fishing th other night in our new Pilot. I am in the center lane of a 6 lane hwy. There is a Lexus that came up on my right hand side. On the right of the road there is a full shoulder. Well, the Lexus runs up on a tire in the road, (probably a semi blowout). Keep in mind I am in the center lane, this jackhole decides to swerve around the tire, not onto the full shoulder he has, but to the left, in front of me, missing me by literally inches. I honked my horn to let him know I was there, and the F***er flipped me off.

Which way would you have swerved to dodge the tire? A wreck with two vehicles, or a wreck with one???? hmmmmmmm.......

where was the tire located in the road more toward the right or more toward the left of the lane... Also how late was it... was it dark and how was the visibility? If the tire was toward the left of the lane i would undoubtedly swerved into the Breakdown lane... If it was in the Right and i had no way of getting into the right lane i would have swerved into the right lane if i felt that you werent there... If it was in the right and i knew you were there i would have taken the break down and maybe taken a bit of the tire under the car.
U see it all depends on the circumstances of the incident. I wouldnt fully try to avoid a tire that was in the right part of the lane by going into the shoulder and increasing my chances of hitting it...
The part about him flipping u off would make me angry good thing you arnt me i get road rage and chase aholes like that

I got a little rage. Pilot is to new to abuse trying to keep up with that lexus. the tire was left - center of the lane. It was 8:30ish, visibility was decent. He had to have known I was there, he ran up on me pretty fast. I think he did not see the tire until last second, unless he was blind I do not understand how he would not be aware of my presence since he had just came up on me.

i would have done nothing at all and just run it over lol. i love trucks. well assuming it was just some retread anyhow.
so many accidents happen because people over react to a problem. IE: a dog runs out in front of your car and you swerve without looking and cause a huge reck. lets chose? the dogs life or mine. guess which one i chose?? dead doggy!
same goes for the tire. do I swerve and risk hitting someone because I dont have time to look?? or do i take the hit and risk maybe a scratch on the car. sometimes people need to take more time to weigh the outcome of two choices. thats why i think things like this should be on road test and even have driving courses with this kind of hazard so that we can keep dumb asses of the road. things happen FAST when driving even at 30 miles an hour. so i say if yoru mind cant process the info fast enough then you should not be driving.

That is much better than trying to take me out to avoid it!
Yeah, it looked like a retread.

I have a truck... I just run stuff over. But yea if it was in the Left he made the wrong decision completely. He is an idiot... Alot of ppl in low cars get worried that if they run somethign over that they will tear their oil pan or their exhaust out... Some women... and men even, believe that they will tear up the Transmission... Even though there is a Trany mount protecting that and on some vehicles a transmission skid plate lol... Well yea I hit everythign with my truck i dont care i would rather keep it in one piece... I even took off the Front air dam in the front for more front clearance... I remmeber one winter a small tree fell across the road and ppl were taking a detour so i told the cop that i was just going to go over it, and i only have 1 wheel drive, (rear diff) Went right over it and didnt have to take the detour. No problem... sorry i went off on a tangent there lol

i think this is why people in cars hate guys like us so much. we get our big trucks and SUV's and rule the planet. lol and to them i say "MOVE DAMNIT"

My other vehicle is a truck, and I am the same way. Even in a car, you have to consider the outcome, at 70mph's you do not have much time to react, but I have been in this situation, and the only thing I think is avoid everyone else. We were on a freeway, had he hit me we could have backed up traffic severely, and possibly had a pileup. This guy was an idoit, seriously, a dent, maybe a ripped out air dam, instead a possible pileup, possibly taking mine or his life. Seriously, where is the common sense.

I'm constantly checking my mirrors so I know whats on either side of me, behind me, and in front of me... Obviously I would hit the tire before causing a wreck, or more than likely went around it on the shoulder since I pay attention. :happy055:
