Summer Reading

Post by NViejeP »

So I need to do summer reading, I want to find some interesting books. I primarily like war books, those are always interesting. However, I dont want to be reading for years. So something nice and simple will be cool, some books I enjoyed, Tom Sawyer from 2 years ago reading list. All quiet on the western front from 2 years ago.

I have done some research on some books, but I don't know much about all of them.

Wondering if you guys can help me out, I need 2 books.

Here they are:

Undaunted Courage
Persquasion
The fire Next time
Maswell Perkins, Editor of Genius
Silent Spring
The Red Badge of Courage
Rape of Nanking
Nervous Conditions
Tale of Two Cities
Once Were Warriors
Cold Mountain
Mistress Bradstreet
In the shadow of man or reason for hope
the return of the Native
Survival in Auschwitz
Sula
Bel Canto
Franny and zooey
The guns of august
Life on the mississippi
The time of the hero
Cat's cradle
Winter in the blood

Obviously the ones that appeal to me off the bat are, The Red Badge of Courage, The Rape of Nanking, Survival in Asuchwitz, and Life on the Mississippi. And the Guns of August.

I'm sure the Rape of Nanking will be very interesting but I don't know if it's too long or not. Same with Survival in Auschwitz, it might just be very long and somewhat boring. I'm open to any suggestions or recommendations.

I'm not really into reading books, mostly I read magazines and internet forums... :happy055:

I think you should read "the long walk - by stephen king."

Have you read "Night" by Elie Wiesel?

Might've spelt that last name wrong.

Well I dont know. I havent read any of the books you have listed, so I figure I'd post up on that one..

My mom was a major book reader before she started having eye problems (she went blind over the last 4-5 years), I'll ask her about some good war type books.

A tale of two cities, and Cat's cradle are both classics. worth reading.
several others there are required reading for college and HS level English classes, too.
