some just use the parking brake trigger.. newer models all are beginning to use more advanced means like motion detection. If the car is moving, the DVD portion won't function on the player.
Either way, playing a DVD while driving in the front of the car is illegal in many states now.

lol...
Some models you can just ground that p-brake wire so the dvd player thinks it's always on. Some come with two wires you have to hook up. And in this case you just hook a toggle switch to wire, some dvd players have to have a sequence of 3 pluses. So just turn you're toggle switch on and off three times and you're good to go. Or you can buy a.....I forgot the name, but it's a box that’s made to bypass that, you can find it on ebay for like 20 or so I believe.

as in driving a minivan with a DVD player in the back isn't illegal.
driving a pickup with one playing in the dash is.

what about people who put tv screens in the rear headrest, so the people behind them can watch? :P
