midbass...

so after alot of EQing and what not, i think ive finally determined that im not completely satisfied with the transition between my sub and my front mids in some q-logic kick panels in my 2000 cavy, around 80 Hz and alil above. so what ive started considering is maybe some dedicated mids in my rear deck, since i got rid of my infinity kappa 6x9s for rear fill. i would cross these over from about 80-300 Hz. so far ive looked into kicker's ss midbass drivers (6.5 and 8 in) and elemental designs little 6.5" little sub thing. does this idea sound like it would work, or would it just fuck up my imaging and not do much. id probably add an mdf baffle to my rear deck to stiffen it up. any suggestions or comments....???

check out this car....definitely one of the best ever built and it has 12" midbass in the rear.....this car was unbeatable when it competed. but it also has and extrememly solid front stage with those waveguides

not to mention that those wave guides were the very first ones ever to be used in a 12v environment. And at roughly $10,000 for the pair, kinda out of most hands. I ran USD Waveguides back in the day, and with the right eq's (2 EQT's), I still needed some heavy midbass. Midbass in the rear is not a bad thing. there was a guy who ran all Coustic amps and Kicker speakers back in the early 90's that had two Kicker 8" subs as the midbass drivers in his beretta. those were in the rear panels next to the backseat. You can get a very good midbass kick from having them in the rear. I wouldn't worry about the application.

does 80-300Hz sound like a good region for them? and has anyone heard anything about eD's Eu-700 MidLFE Driver. i know eD doesnt have a very good name on this forum, but for 50 bucks, it looks fairly impressive.

You know it my friend, btw, I won't be moving to Ky, my buddy took the job...it was between he and I and I lost. Oh well, looks like my future is still pretty bright here in Okieland.

oh and that coustic vehicle...total of 14 speakers in that car, a pair of tweets, a pair of 4" mids, a pair of 6" mids, a pair of 8" subs for midbass, and 6 12's. Now for the fun part...each tweeter had an Amp260, each midrange had an amp 360, each midbass and sub had an amp460...damn that thing was loud!!!

and we have officially jacked this thread!

yes, 80-300hz should do you justice...

also, after going through that site alil more, that car is bad ass. and its making me more confident that this should sound pretty good. and another quick question. i reallize im gunna have alil work ahead of me in the install in my rear deck. should i put these mids in a small sealed enclosure, or would IB be fine.

The guy I knew had the kickers in IB...

also, you should look into some Orion 6MB also. I don't know for sure if they still make them, but damn they sound really good. Also you can look at the JL 6w0 subs, excellent little subs that will double as midbass drivers too.

if you could locate some old fosgate pro 6.5 or punch 6.5 midbass that would be awesome but that stuff is extremely hard to find anymore.....companies used to build 6.5 midbass speakers that absolutely kicked ass but not so much anymore......maybe the jl 6wo if your tight on space......lots of options here.....

damn joe....one of the best ummmmm.........gentlemans clubs in ky is down in that area so your gonna miss out.........of course like ron white said, if youve seen one naked lady in your life, you wanna see the rest of them too..........
