Powering an IDMAX... Clean!

Gentlemen,

Here is my dilemma, i got a great deal on 12" IDMAx 4/1ohm sub that i couldn't pass up. As a result ive been pushing the thing with 300rms at 4ohm on my poor abused MTX amp... Obviously i need an upgrade, but SQ is my main concern... I figure the thing will boom loud enough whatever quality amp i put to the IDMAX. With my available budget $300+ area, im looking at the following used amps. FYI: I drive a Lexus ES300 '98 with a stock electical system 90 amps...

The following are the amps ive had my eye on:

US Amps 1000-DE: Well over 1000 watts at 1ohm. Great amp... I've heard damping factor is over >250. This matters cause i want great SQ. But if my electrical system cant handle it how would it sound if i just ran it 4ohm? Hell 600-700watts is still great, and wouldnt this save my electrical system? Give me the option of using the extra power if i ever upgrade my electrical system. Would cost a bit extra...

Phoenix Gold 600.2 Titanium: Heard these are great amps, but i hear very little about them here. Anyway it does 600watts into 4ohms... Its class A/B so i figure it should play cleaner than the U.S. Amps? But again would it kill my electrical system?

JL Audio 500/1: 500 watts at 4ohms... How would this one do? Damping factor >500. But the lowest wattage of the 3.

Opinions? I want the best SQ possible, and as far as SPL i just want it enough to be able to feel it in my chest on occasion... Not necessarily make me go death after 60 seconds. Ill likely be installing another 200-300rms amp soon enough to push some components. What do you guys think? Another rout ive though of is the Zed audio Minilith... Class D 600 watts at 1 ohm? Sorry for the long post.

Thanks in advance for any help!

with those offerings, you could look at an Audison LRx1.400, gives 900w @ 1ohm. Excellent little amp, and the new version has internal cooling too. I would highly suggest it. Out of the ones listed, I would definately look at the 500/1, then the Zed, then the US Amps, and finally the Phoenix Gold.

I agree with Onyrmrk the JL 500/1 Is a great amp and pushes clean power with the greatest damnpening factor. I know That the Phoenix Gold is not what u would want, its not a great sq amp.

Thanks for the feedback. It looks like the consensus is the JL audio... But, here is what i am wondering... Wouldn't the U.S. Amps run at half its potential, sound better than a JL audio amp being pushed to its limit?

Why not a nice Legacy amp? Even save yourself some money!

No, and even if it does run cooler, there will be no difference that you will be able to notice.

So under those conditions the JL would still play cleaner/tighter... I'm impressed!
