Windows Vista Beta, AAHHHHH!!

I d/led and installed the beta version of Windows Vista last night. Then I soon found out that my motherboard manufacturer DOES NOT make drivers for beta OS's, which makes sense. Then I decided, well I will go ahead and put XP back on and wait for the retail version, Not gonna happen easily!!! I had to use a "wipe data" program after numerous attempts to install XP before It would work!! I have reinstalled many times for maintenance purposes, and I have NEVER had this much trouble. This is just a warning to those of you considering this upgrade. I did like what I saw while Vista was installed, among many numerous, yet annoying, security enhancements that seemed quite effective. William from Nola is running Vista, he seemed to like it. Proceed with caution.

I've been running Vista since Friday night. At first I had a couple problems but ironed them out. The user protection thing is annoying so I had to turn it off.
I have bass Box Pro 6, nero 6, office 2007, Ca antivirus, and Hauppauge WinTv all installed. Wintv was a bit of a pain, but once the user protection thing wa turned off it wored properly. I also have a beta driver for Nvidia 5700Le card.
So far I like the OS. It does have a few problems. Movie maker keeps crashing when trying to inport an AVI file. No problem though, found somethign else that works. It found my network stuff right off the bat, and the downloading speeds are a lot better than XP ever was, for me.
Will I invest in Vista? Probably not. By the time is hits the shelves I'll probably be running Linux, which is now setup as secondary boot (PcLinuxOS). Why? Cause Vista, just like XP, will cost far more than it's worth.

My video card isn't supported. That is my biggest problem. But I do have to say, this is the best Standard Display Driver ever haha.
Joey, I hope you didn't put Vista on the same partition as XP!!! I warned you man!!! That sucks.
I've been meaning to actually purchase XP for my computer, so I guess I need to do that. CompUSA has the upgrade (Home) for $50 after rebate.

Well I was going to format and reinstall xp anyway, so I did a fresh install with vista. When I decided it was going to be to much work to rely on it, for now I went back to XP. How much is Vista going to cost I wonder?

Vista is the "codename" you could say for the new windows. There are several different versions of windows out I believe that are 64 bit capable, XP64 and 2003 64, but I personally am waiting for vista. It was going to be called "longhorn" now they are calling it vista.

Longhorn was the "codename" for it. Windows Vista is what they will market the product under, from what I understand.
On the 64 bit thing, they make 64-bit VERSIONS of software. If you don't have a 64 bit processor, then you obviously can't run 64 bit software, so you need the plain jane 32 bit version of it.
If you want a decent review of Beta2,
http://www.tomshardware.com has a recent review of it, plus tons of other great info. I'm not sure what section of the site that it would be under, so you might have to look around a little bit.
I dual boot as well, Windows XP and Ubuntu Linux.

I have a couple contacts that i know that are marketing the Vista program for Microsoft to vendors and what not, and they said that they are having a pain in the ass trying to work out all the bugs. But from what i hear the product is a top priority as far as what they are aiming to do... My mom told me that all the people involved in the project are feeling the pressure coming from the top. Apparently Bill Gates is really pushing this project, so it looks like it could be a real home run when its out and runnning
