Here i am with my brand new weller universal 140/100w soldering gun! well, i did one led project without any problems, and almost halfway done with my current one and i pick up the gun and start to heat it up and i notice that the bottom half of the top is disconnected from the top part... which, equals gay. i'm assuming this isn't repairble so i have to go buy a new tip now (that = gay)
this sucks, i wanted to have my new domelight in tommorow!

guys, clean up the language and lewdness around here.. It's been getting a bit out of hand lately.
thank you.
that applies to everyone, smoker.
if you're soldering LEDs, you should be using a 15/30 watt soldering pen.
you're using the wrong tool for the job to begin with. Pick up a 30 wat pen at radio shack for $10 and try that.

I feel ya there.. the pen is just better at not damaging the LEDs when soldering the leads. The gun gets so hot it will actually melt the LEDs before you can heat the wire enough to liquify the solder for a good connection. This way you'll have working LEDs when you finish :)
