Wish me luck....I am going to try and talk my wife into allowing me to purchase a new Mark VIII from one of my students. The car is a 1998 LSC with the same color, same interior, same everything as mine, but the car has only 67,000 miles on it. I have over 200,000 miles on my car. Plus this car has HID lights, perfect air ride suspension, and is more than capable of making a trip to say....the CAC Gathering in July. All my components will transfer directly across from one car to another...the only thing I would have to do is buy more hushmat to line, although I am sure I can get a discount on some other kind of dampner here if I must...hint hint. This car is completely road worthy and beautiful. If I can find a picture of what it looks like, I will post it up here. on this thread.
what I would like to know is this a good idea? I love how my car drives, how it still turns heads...but I would like in the future a new truck. If I get this one, I can purchase a new truck in 3 years rather than in the next year..saving us more than 25,000 dollars.
what do you guys think?

Lets see, save money, get truck later. Save Lots of Money. Get truck later.
????????? Why are we pondering this?
Dude, get the car, save the money.
Besides you know you want to rock some Second Skin.

What kind of truck were you planning on getting?
If you're going to get one, you'll have to pay regardless

Just depends on the down payment you can make. A lot of times it's good to get a certified used vehicle since it locks you in at a lower APR, not counting the warranty it will give you as well.
Plus, low mileage doesn't really promise anything. Cold starts are responsible for roughly 70% of engine wear, and mileage really can't tell you that one. Then there is city vs highway mileage.
Most of the vehicles that make it to 200,000 or 300,000 miles are the ones that are highway driven for long periods of time.

Actually, I was planning on purchasing a brand new F150 Supercrew. But that would be in March of next year.

Well I bought the 98 Model, made a killing with almost the same amount of equity in it as the price I paid for it. Found out this is the Signature series LSC and they only made 1400 of that particular model. At least from the looks of it, it is. We will see. I close on the deal tomorrow morning. When I get some new cd-rs for my camera I will take a few pictures of it.

Good deal Joe, that sounds like a great buy. That car looks really nice so you should be in good shape. BTW, I completely understand the whole "checking with the wife" thing before making purchases. I never had to worry about that before
Be sure to give us some updates with pics and everything.

Thats great Joe, good car. I've logged many-a-mile in a 93 mark VIII, years back. Loved that car! :*(

Now you are a lucky man Devin. Some day you may have to answer to a 'higher power'
