Xtant vs: Eclipse

Post by Pasyngr »

I'm down to these to amps to power my boston 10.5 LF, Xtant 1001DX and the Eclipse DA6213. I have the eclipse pa 4212 powering my mids and tweets and it sounds great but I have no experience with Xtant, Any suggestions or input would be very much appreciated. Also what would be a fair price on each of these, I found the eclipse on e-bay for a buy it now price of $275.00 plus 22.00 shipping, but I dont know if this is acctually a good deal or not. I have no reference for the Xtant.

Xtant makes some really nice amps. So you won't go wrong with them.

Honestly, both are nice, and right on par with each other. I would probably favor the Xtant a little, but since you all ready have an eclipse, then why not stay with the same brand.

275 doesn't sound to bad for it, but I can't find one for sell to double check.

I did find these, so maybe this will help.

Thanx, I was leaning towards the eclipse just for that reason, just needed a kick in the ass to get me movin. If your foots not too sore do you have any input between the older Boston pro 6.53 components and the current Z6's? Again I am leaning because I have the pro 10.5 LF, but I just dont want to find out later I should have gone the other way for some reason. (I hate it when that happens!!)

Your in luck. I had the old pros in my last stereo.

I liked them. They did take a little EQing to get just right, and I found the tweeters sounded better off axis down in the kicks. Over all the pros are more of a in your face component set over the Zs. The mid has more punch, and the tweeter can be a little bright, depending on install.

The Zs are more of a balanced set. They don't jump out at you, but are a very nice SQ set.

cool, your 2 for2. Thats the direction I was leaning, especially cause of price. Did you have the 2 or the 3 ways? Ive been thinking that the 6.5 3's are the way to go, but I'm not quite sure about how to install. I have a 99 silwerado ext cab. do you think using pods in the kicks for the mids and tweets then the subs in the doors or somthing completly different? this is going to be my first real high end install and I'd like it to look and sound somewhat like I knew what I was doing. :confused

That's what I would do. Sound deaden the door real well, put the midbass in the door, then put the midrange and tweet in the kick panel. I like that setup a lot myself.
