Pops the fuse on the amp, or on the power cable?

is it well grounded? And maybe not just the ground from the amp to the floor of the car, but from the negative battery termanal the inner fender. and anything in between. I always beef up all grounding straps, cables, etc. Just to be on the safe side. I belive on S-10s they have grounding straps from the body of the truck to the frame underneath the truck. If so, maybe they need to be beefed up.

sounds like a ground issue i need more info though. does the amp get hot at all? does it go into protect what ohm load are you running it at? is it the xx colossus? on your ground run it back to the battery.

If it turns out not to be a ground issue, you may need to beef up the power wire and fuse (note: AND and not one or the other).
To me, it sort of sounds like it's clipping. I'd recheck your gains too.

What do you have them JL wired to? You either have them wired at about 2.5 ohm load, or a .6 ohm load. And I really doubt that amp handles a low ohm load like that??

the colossus will take .6 because the dcr will be much higer it will come up to around 1.5-2 depending on the box. however i dont reccomend it change the ohm load if you have it at .6

I've got $5 and a box of doughnuts on it being a ground issue.
