no, his auction said it was working perfectly. i just e-mailed him and asked for my money back. if he says no, then i'm just gonna take it up with paypal and ebay. so hopefully i will come out with my 300 back, and try then go buy a new 500/1 or look for another amp that runs 600 rms at 4 ohms.

Just tell PayPal that you want your money back, and the item wasn't as described. Even if you are lying they will take your side because PayPal are assholes.

have you hooked it up yet? Maybe they said that cuz they messed it up. When they bench test an amp they test how much power it puts out correct? Will the slash series has a regulated power supply, and will put out 500rms maybe just a wee-bit more but not much. So there would be no reason to do that.

Take it apart and see if anything has blown. Try hookin it up in a friend's car to see if it's your cd player.

find the guy you bought it off of on ebay and slap him in the head with it... may not help the amp but it will make it a little easier to think about the best way to go about fixing it :P

yeah, try to get your money back. If that fails, fixing it could be rather difficult. There is probably not that much wrong with it, but it can be hard to find what is wrong, even with lots of fancy test equipment, and it could be nearly impossible without it. If you don't have much experience working with electrical devices and circuit boards, don't even bother. But if you are going to try to fix it, look for anthing that looks overheated, or perhaps a capacitor that looks funny (mishapen or something) If it is a semiconductor (seems like a possibility) then you are probably out of luck, unless you have a bunch of fancy test equipment, and know how to use it.

good luck getting this situation resolved. I personally think JL's are great amps (I have two 300/2's), so it is definatly worth getting one that works.

If the outputs are blown, it's most likely a transistor. And JL amps use proprietary N-channel MOSFETS, not really something you can get freely. Your options are to either resolve it with the seller or send it to JL to be fixed, or a combination of the two.
