Help me decide please

Post by evo_from_hell »

I am trying to decide what cabin speakers to upgrade to. I have been looking at Eclipse SE8365's, but I am not sure how those stack up to other 6.5". All four cabin speakers are 6.5" (rear deck and doors) with a seperate location for the tweeters.

For the head unit I was thinking about getting Eclipse AVN7000...thoughts???

I will probably not go with a sub just yet as I want to get the others figured out first.

first suggestion, plan the entire system before beginning the install. that way it will be balanced, when you do finish the install, with or without a sub.

eclipse makes good head units.
there are better speakers out there, and consider a 4 channel amp to drive them as well.

funkypup components with the supa-ferrofluid-infused-compression-tweeter and the reinforced paper dual coned 350w 6.5" midwoofer. Then power it with a LoudSound 4000w x4 amplifier...

seriously though, there are $3000/pr components out there that when crossover'd correctly, sound amazing, but out of the box sound like buttocks, and there are $100/pr components out of the box sound good but when crossover'd like you would the expensive pair, sound like buttocks. And when my buttocks makes a sound, it sounds like shit.

that sounds fine.
why do you need rear speakers at all in an evo?
It's a small boxy car, and unless you're concerned with people in the back seats often, all you'll do with rear components is ruin your imaging and your sound stage. (explained in the FAQ section in the rear rill thread)

As for the rear speakers - eventually I was going to take advantage of the 5.1 surround ability of the AVN7000. Otherwise I most likely would not bother with the rear speakers.

looks to me like your willing to spend what it takes to get quality. look at jl audio , arc audio, or zapco. to name a few excellent brands, check those out.
