This question is for Bill. He's having problems with a facotry HU in an 05' Dodge Durango. He's getting power to the constant and switched, but the radio won't seem to turn on. He also said he tried regrounding the unit with no luck. Anyone know what it could be?

its an 03 and im stumped it has power the constant is fine the switched is fine and i tried running a ground to the battery... but it still wont turn on i tried with 2 diffrent radios, still no luck

I wouldn't run a ground to the battery (bad mojo in my opinion) Try to keep it short just like the amp.

The next thing I would do is run a 12 volt jumper wire from the battery to the acc, and constant wires. Hook them up one at a time, and see which one alows you to turn on the radion. One of the two might be branched off to power something else, causing you to not get enough amperage to turn on the deck.

check the amperage to the wires which would turn on the deck with your voltmeter multimeter ect... theres my 10 cents and my 2 cents is free, whos cents? nonsense, you sick for me? LOL my own little wanna be rap
oh yeah, you could always run a wire from the battery to the deck, then youll be sure your getting enough power

ya did you check it with a voltmeter? it could be getting a low voltage like 8 volts or something that will still light up a test light but not a radio.

If that radio didnt come from that vehicle it may not be compatible simply because of pin-outs.

If that radio came OUT of that exact car then it should be fine. You may have to dick with the factory security code. Yanno them factory radio's are highly valuable and theifs steal them every day

yeah, wtf, can i just say WHY would they need a security code unless the radios were made with like 24k gold or somthing

radio was fried had pennys inside it. plenty of issues with this worked from 9 to 9...

As soon as you told me that I almost laughed in a customers face, not becuase of the pennies, but becuase the customer dyed her hair pink.

If it has/had pennies inside of it chances are high it could of shorted out frying it.

If you look inside hard enough there "may" be fuses...
