Alright I was thinking of putting some kind of lights over my sub and amp. I would attach them to the top of the trunk. I have a few options:

Or I could just take individual LED’s and put them all over the place in the trunk.
Or I also noticed in radio shack there are some little bulbs I can run.
Or I could just go with a Neon tube from: http://www.detroitbass.com/streetglow.html

Now I would want the sub to be lit up so I really don’t know if Neon would be bright enough (considering I never had one). I do know that LED's would do the job because I just bought some to experiment with and BOY they are bright!

I was also wondering if I can hook any of them up off my amps power supply or would I have no run a separate wire? I know I’m going to need some sort of restrictor on the LED’s but that shouldn’t be a problem.

I know a lot of you have done similar things so could I hear what you guys have done, liked, and next time will change. Thanks!

Neither. Cold cathodes. Cheaper, and much brighter then both LED and neon. http://www.oznium.com. They are only like $6.50 for a pair of 12" cathodes. They are all I use now, they are amazing. You know I'm telling the truth since I sell the neon tubes, and I'm recomending something else lol.

Well I would definitely go with LED's, much nicer and brighter. You can run the LED bars off of your amps power supply but then you face the problem of them always being on. I personally ran a seperate fused (I always use fuses) wire from my battery and then put a rocker switch under the dash so I could either turn them on or off. I have 2 12" LED tubes above my subs. The ones pictured in my avatar. I also have them in my trunk for my amps. Personal preference for me, is to run a seperate wire and power all of the LED's off of that. Just my opinion though. I am sure you will get plenty of ideas from the rest of the guys on the board.

mmm neon, cathodes, and LEDs.. how fast&furious of you!

I also will say cathodes. I have 2 blue ones in my headliner (gotta hide them better though). They light up the cabin area bright enough to where I can read, if I felt like it.

humm this is true but how do i know you dont own stocks? haha but WOW they are bright and cheap as hell! i think i'm going to have to make my car 100% Mexican with prices THAT low! one question i have is how durable are they... like if something were to knock into them are they going to break real easily?

now those neon’s looks real nice also you your avatar… is your sub enclosed in a plexi-glass and you have a neon in it or are both of them right above the box…. That looks like the right amount of glow.

bend a cathode tube a bit and it snaps. after that it's dead.
not what you'd want to use under-car. (use LEDs there)
cathodes work much better under dashes, in boxes, etc.. where they don't get kicked or bent.

Well the cathodes do come in a fairly thick protective tube, but they can be broken with about the same amount of force as a neon I'd say

ok thats good you gave me a heads up! now i'm really thinking of putting these tubes all over my car if they are THAT cheap! i think i'm going to go with 3 sets of the 4 inch models... has anyone tried the 4 inch(oh god that didnt sound good)?

one other question is what is a round rocker switch? is that the same as a normal switch?

Yes, it is just a switch. The 4" are the same price as the 12", just get the 12". I have 4 pairs of the red 12" ones in my Focus. Two under the dash, two under the seats, and 4 lighting up the back area. They light up the whole damn car, no joke.
