i want to buy this HU but someone told me it doesnt have an onboard amp. What exactly does that mean? Does this mean that i wont be able to power my regular car speakers with this HU? Would i have to hoop up an external amp to power the car speakers? Is this HU worth buying? I can get a used one for $85.

If it doesnt have an onboard amp, then yes you will need to buy an external amplifier.

I personally am not a big fan of kenwood decks anyway. Look more into Alpine, Pioneer Premier, JVC.

It has an onboard amp. Whoever told you it didn't is wrong. As it is listed:

# RMS Power: 22W x 4
# Peak Power: 50W x 4

A HU without an amp wouldn't list this.
