I came here in June or something activated an account, but didn't have the cash to get any speakers or anything so I didnt bother asking... Now I gots cash and I'm start getting myself a starter system woooot. Anyhoo I'm 19 I live in Edmonton Alberta I've only started doing car audio stuff 5-6 months now.

Here is what I refer to as my economy sound system.



As you can see I have 2 10" Subs... I dunno even what brand they are cuz I bought em from some excess warehouse place and I forget what they were. That baby cost me 50$ American. The Amp is a Coustic Powerlogic 100 watt RMS. 25$ for that treasure. The capacitor is there cuz I was having troubles keeping power... and I didnt wanna buy a new alternator if a cap could work.. But.. I had to buy a new alternator anyways. The cap was 50$

Total of 125$ there.

Bah I shrunk all the pictures now too small... brutal... gotta go to classes now... I'll fix it tomorrow lolz.

Anyways the rest of my system consists of some OLD Pioneer 6x9s that aren't even screwed down properly in the back cuz the window slopes too much.. No faceplates 2 screws in the front. Oi... I got a Kenwood deck... its a cheapy..

Total cost of my system is 250-300$. Needs some working.

i just turned 20 a couple weeks ago. im already missing being able to say "dont blame me, im just a stupid teen...." anyway, as for a starter system, be smart. dont spend your money on complete shit just becuase you dont have the money right now. let the people on here guide you to what you really want and save your money. start with the basics and slowly build your way up. the FAQ section and the good, bad, and ugly list is a great place to start. many people have wasted sooo much money because they spend it on gargbage that says something like "1600w for $200"

If you dont have the cash for a good sub/amp combo, get some nice interior speakers first. It will make quite the difference.

Eric Cartmen, hit it on the head. Saving money for that extra month or two, could get you the stuff you really want.

im 19 also ive been doing this for around 4-5 years i lost count since i was like 13 helping my uncle 21 at the time with his car audio stuff (he owend a shop.) i agree with what the rest say! save your money and slow build your way up dont throw 200 at a system and then start building up on it. get a one thing then save some more get the next thing... hes a good rule 50 cents to 1.00 a watt is good power. and a lil secret, it may not be incredibly accurent but good enough, take the fuse for the amp and multiply it by the voltage of your car. that is how much wattage the amp could produce. ex. my autotek uses a 180 amp fuse and my alternator charges at 14.5 volts. so 180X14.5 2610 watts. make sense?

You will want to make sure those 6x9's are properly secured down. Gettin in a wreck at say 40 mph, those things will be some mighty projectiles.

Yea the 6x9s are a huge prob I'm prob gonna put the Sony Xplods back in until I can get around to buying some new 6.5"s.
