but the comparison was that the soundsplinter and the brahma were on the same level as far as SQ and SPL. I would like to learn more about these subs though because I always like to try new equipment. I am e-mailing soundsplinter right now for some other info, like the part of the description of the max. RMS of 300w (for the rl-i's) as being a "conservative" rating. I wish they would just list a "regular" rating instead.

Actually to me they dont look that bad. You never know with new companies sometimes though until they've been around for a while and people start buying their stuff.

That looks just like the eD subs with a different cone.

But then again most of the subs with that basket are the same parts/different cone.

You never know about these fly-by-night little internet based companies.

I would rather put my $250 where my mouth is and buy something that in known good and time tested rather than gamble on some new place....

Getting burned yet again in said situation makes me a bit bitter. But I would rather have something good then something??????

Find good reviews on another board besides that one you listed. That way hopefully there is no bias.
