what kind of amp

Post by baldguy7171 »

hey im actually thinking about getting a Rockford Fosgate P162S 6-1/2" Component System. This is the actual link to the system here http://www.thezeb.com/p-Rockford-Fosgat ... 107371.htm . I wanted to know if i would need an amp to run these and if i do wich one would be best for a reasonable price. And overall if these were a good buy for the price. I really would not want to spend more than $200 on an amp.

erm, what exactly are you thinking of for this system?
highs are tweeters, for the record.. and you may want to raed the FAQ thread on rear fill speakers to see if you even want rear speakers.
the component set you're looking at alraedy has a pair of mids, tweeters, and crossovers so that should be all you need in front.
in the back, all you'll want are midranges, no tweeters.
with those speakers you'd want an amp that's 50x4.. maybe something from Kicker or stick with RF if you like their products.

you want to keep the system simple for the best results.
good strong front stage.
rear speakers for midrange if at all.
sub(s)
50x4 amp and a mono amp for the sub.

here is a list of options:

RF 50x2 ($115.. renewed..)

kicker 60x2($132)

pioneer 60x2($90)

kicker 60x4 ($250)

rf 50x4 ($170 - renewed... )

i personally suggest you get a 2ch amp to save a few bucks, and then run rear speakers off the hu. which if you went that route, the kicker or fosgate would be your best bet. however, the fosgate is factory renewed.
