wannabe cv strokers!!!

anyone seen the planet audio subs that look like strokers?WTF!

Copying is an incentive for me NOT to buy products like these. BUT, there are a lot of misguided people who think this is the thing to do. :nono

I say, if you can't design your own unique product, then that reflects the quality of that product.

The Patent CV had on the stroker probably expired which then makes it legal for others to use your patented technology.

The CV Stroker is still a good sub, but its not as awesome as it used to be. SImply because there are other subs that can outperform it now days.

Old technology....big $$$

Yep, those have been around for a while. They actually have larger diameter voice coils than the Stroker (4" vs 3"), and a much lighter motor structure. The motor on the 12 and 15 is only 150oz, which is much lighter than the Stroker. Even the 300oz motor on the 18 is still lighter than the Stroker 18.

They also have much lower efficiency than the Strokers do, by about 7-9dB, depending on which model you are comparing.

Personally I was never that impressed with the Stroker anyway. Excessive BL (for musical applications), a High Fs, and 10mm of linear travel do not a great subwoofer make...

Actually it's far from the same parts as the stroker...

And...It's just basically classified as a pro audio driver...but whatever :)
