You will have to pull up a few up trim peices in order to get the power wire and the RCAs under the carpet. (yes you do want them on oppisite sides)

Alot of this depends on the car, but here is the basics of what to do.

Find somewhere you can run the power wire thru the firewall on the same side your battery is on. You might have to drill a hole, and use a grommet, or there might all ready be a hole that you can run it thru (factory wire harness) If you have to do any cutting or drilling make sure you check and see what is on the other side before you do!!

Once you have a way to run your power wire thru the firewall, you will need to pull the bottom trim peice in the door opening, and possiably the kick panel directly forward of it. Pull the carpet back and you should be able to run the wire from the hole in the firewall to a spot a little aft of your front seats.

This is were it gets really dependand on the vehicale. Some cars you need to pull the side panel loose to get the carpet up and continue to run the power wire back. If you have a 4 door car, you pull up the trim peice as before, and that will get you back to the seat. Other cars you can pull the carpet out, slide the wire into place, and put the carpet back without taking anything else loose.

Once you make it to the back seat, you can do it a couple of ways. Alot of people just push the wire down on the side of the seat, so it is under the carpet till it goes under the seat, that way the side of the seat conceals the wire. This meathod works, and is faster, but I perfer the second method. I normally pull the seat loose, and run the wires were I want them. It does take a little longer, but when your running a power wire, remote wire, and RCAs, its seems to be easer in the end.

Once you reach the trunk, pull up the floor carpet, and run the wires the rest of the way out. I try no to cut the carpet till I have the install built, that way I only make one small cut to bring the wire up thru.

RCAs are basically done the same way, except on the other side of the car.

Hope this helps. If your still not sure let us know the make and model of your car, and I know someone can give you more details.

Is it only the power wire and rca's going from amp to HU that need to be separated? The speaker wire is fine to be next to the power wire?

Yes, its only the Power wire, and the RCA Wire.

I took a look at the firewall in my car, and i honestly have no clue as to how to wire the power wire through the firewall.

i took off the plastic part that is under the dash board, and theres a shit load of wires... but i dont know how to wire it through the firewall... can someone possibly take a picture of how theirs is wired from the inside and outside?

Thanks.

I don't have a picture, but if you look up under your dash you'll see that all the wires are run through a black maybe grayish looking rubber grommet.
If you don't have room enough to put it through there, you'll have to drill a hole in the firewall and use your own rubber grommet.

Quick Tip: After drilling the hole, put a little bit of silicone around it on both sides before you put the grommet in. This helps from corrosive materials getting in around the hole and it will not rust out.

I looked around the steering column for someplace that the wires go through, but i couldent find any... the only thing i can think of is i am looking in the wrong spot.... i even look at the firewall from under the hood, and on the drivers side, there is a lot of stuff in front of the firewall, so even if there was one, i would have a hard time getting to it.

Now on the passenger side of the car, there is a spot where a bunch of wires go through, i could try to put it through there, but then the battery is on the drivers side, so i would have to run the wire under the hood to the other side of the car...

Please advise.

ok, i could do that, but as i said, there is a LOT of stuff in front of the firewall under the hood on the drivers side... so i'm a bit affraid i would drill something, and cause a big problem.

Could someone possibly post a picture of how you have yours wired on the inside and under the hood?

Thanks.

Edit: there is also a foam padding on the inside on top of the firewall, is it ok to drill through that also?
