Hey guys.. I've been lookin into a replacement for my 3 entry level pioneer premiers which I have powered by a jbl 1201.1. I have a good h/u a 200 amp alternator, so I've got plenty of power, Im just not getting what I want from the pioneers. I've decided on either a RE SX 15 or 18. Question is is the 1201.1 enough power for the 15 or 18. And also, in real world terms, what would the difference be loudness wise from the pioneers to the re sx 15 or 18. It's all in a 91 explorer. I have the 3 12's in 6 cubes ported tuned to 32 hz.. subs facing rear, ports up. I just want a few opinions in what I may hit with a singe re sx 15 or 18 setup with the amp i have.. Thanks....

id run a single 15" SX, but if you have room i guess the 18" but for daily i dunno about the 18". its up to you though... good choice either way.

anyway..... lets see.. that amp does

RMS Power: 787W x 1 @ 4 Ohms
RMS Power: 1114W x 1 @ 2 Ohms

thats fine for a SX...

Perfect power for the SX..I'd probably do an 18" for an SPL setup, but really a 15" could be better depending on your vehicle. Either choice is a solid one.

Ok.. at least I know I have enough power. But my main question is with the power I have available and the right enclosure, say tuned to 30-35hz. in an explorer what is one 15" sx capable of db wise?

I see many similar SPL 18" vehicles hitting in the 150's if done right.

I would go for the 18" you obviously got the room if you got 6 cubes right now...

That's all install dependant. With that amount of power and the right enclosure you most certainly could do a 150. Spend some time on the design of your box and figure out what works. What vehicle will this be in by the way? There's probably an SPL competitor on here that has experience with your vehicle that would help you out as far as which way to face the ports/subs. I agree with basstronics..go with the 18" since it's obvious you have the room. Should be sick if done properly.

you should consider giving thema little more power They're dual 2 ohm, can take 1000W RMS
