old school amp or new amp?

I just recently posted a thread on a Lanzar 50c, but I was wondering if this amp is worth keeping, or should I sell it for a newer amp? I have heard great things, but the ohm factor gets me wondering. I would like to eventrolly hook up 2 amps one subs then interiors. I would like to push alot of power into my subs that will rock, but still sound good and you don't have to spend $5000 to get to. I would like to also be able to drive around and still have no problems with the electricals. I still have no idea of what sub to get or how many.

I wouldn't get rid of your amp unless you are having problems with it, or it isn't what you need currently.
As for subs, it depends what you want mostly (SPL, SQ, SQL). Refer to the Good Bad and Ugly list in teh FAQ section. See what is in your price range and get out to some shops and take a listen and see what you like the best. Everyone's ears are different. But remember, the only thing you can truely judge in a showroom is a speaker's sound quality, SPL will be drastically different in a car.

Thanks, I have never hear anything wrong about the Lanzars. Like I said the only thing that seems bad is the ohms stabels. I do understand that the amp will require more power. I think that what I want is SQL (I think that this is a little of both if I'm not wrong). thanks again and if any one else has imput don't be afraid to speak.

Yea, SQL is basically a street beater setup with both SPL and SQ. This is what many non competitors are after. There's no reason in the world to need tons of power to put together an awesome system. Get a sub that takes little power to get going, but of good quality. Example: AA Atlas and the RE RE series. Anyone that tells you you need lots of power to put together a great SQL system is nuts, or even a decent SPL setup for that matter. Install is the key to making or breaking the system anyways. Spend lots of time on your enclosure getting it just how you want it. For an SQL system, I always reccomend ported boxes. If done right, you can get loud and still maintain good SQ.

Taht amp will do perfectly w/SQL. I miss the old school opti drive amps, esp. the 50c and the 500. Nothing to worry about on the ohm stability. The only down fall is if you CAN'T get the amp down to .5 ohms mono to geet the most out of it. If you haven't bought any subs yet, get two 2 ohm DVCs and parellel all of it for a .5 ohm load. Keep the amp if it seems possable to do.

That is a good amp to Keep.
Thats when Lanzar was a decent company.
You can use this amp still providing you match the ohms/RMS at given Ohm value.
I wouldnt get rid of this amp. That much power may be desired in the future...
Put it on a shelf and leave it.

I will keep the amp for some furture references and cause I know it can put out power. I never heard of atlas subs. I know that the RE's are good, but which ones should I possibly go with then RE, SE, SEXX, XXX or MT. I don't really have the $ for the XXX, MT.

SX is supposedly the loudest of the line. aside from the MT.. and the SX is cheaper than the XXX.... theres something to think about.
