I am very new to most things car audio, and being new I am not really looking to build a box to the exact specifications of my subwoofers manual. I would like to find something as close as I can get however. and I'm looking for suggestions.

The sub is wired to 2 ohms

My setup is

Subwoofer: Alpine

Amp: GM-D8601 - Class D Mono Amplifier with Wired Bass Boost Remote | Pioneer Electronics USA

Box: Metra 12" Single Ported Subwoofer Enclosure Black TCBXP-112 - Best Buy

I am completely oblivious to whether my current box is even close to what my sub should have. It was just what was available and cheap with my discount.

I'm looking for something close to the manufacturer's recommended specs (if they are whats best).

The specifications can be found on the right side of page three of the manual in this link.
I'm looking for the Vented box.

Thanks in advance for any help guys its very much appreciated!

Hi there,
Welcome to the forum.

Looking up the specs of the box and the sub.

I think your box might be too small.

According to the sub manual, if you want a ported box.
your internal air space needs to be between 1-1.5 cubic feet.

I used this calculator to measure what your box has:
I assumed your box uses 3/4 MDF and it comes out to a total of 1.81 cubic feet. But this doesn't take into account the vent or the sub woofer displacement.

I have a feeling you might be in the ballpark.
How does it sound?
