Need advice on hooking up car audio system

If it was my system, I'd buy a 4 channel amp to drive those Polk door speakers front and rear. about 70% of your audio comes from those speakers. With just a sub amp, you'll drown them out since head units only supply about 10 or 12 watts per channel RMS (that 52 watt rating is nonsense. that's peak, during a lightning strike. a head unit's amp is IC-driven, and lacks a transformer so it is incapable of producing very much clean power.)

That said, I'd go with a ported box for the Pioneer sub, and the rest should be pretty straight forward. Tune the port on the box to 34Hz, and it should sound deep and tight and clean. Cross the sub over at 50-60Hz, 18dB slope. Set the door speakers to a high-pass filter crossover point of 100-120Hz, 12dB slope (Q)
the roll-off will fill the gap between the XO points.

Maybe find another install shop in your area. BB doesn't have the best reputation in most places. But you could get lucky.
