Help starting off?

Post by clutchcarrot »

I've got a 1999 lexus lx470 that has a stock double din stereo system and stock speakers. The bass in every song I play sounds awful so I'm open to suggestions on what to do but I know I definitely want to get subs in the future. I was thinking the best thing to do would be to start is to get a new head unit and there is a Kenwood double din stereo for $350 at my local audio store. What would the best thing to start off be? New speakers, head unit, or something else?

Welcome to the forum.

If it were me, and you plan on replacing everything anyways. I would start at the front and work your way to the back.
I would first get a new head unit, and then replace the stock speakers. You might want to get an amp to run those too, but that's optional just depending on what you're looking for.

Then I would save up and get a good amp and subs. How much bass are you looking for?
I really like my MMATS and IDQ setup I have in the Camaro.

To save money, always consider used too.
