im bringing them home today, i left em there to dry (it was late). Just one layer of the matting, which seemed fairly thick. I mean i squeezed the pods and tried to crack em and they didnt give or make any noise.

If I need to though can I add 2-3 more layers on top of the existing ones, and do I need to prep them with anything or no?

My buddy says you cant but then again he didnt know you soak the fleece in resin first he thought you made the structure out of the mat lol.

Hes worked with fiberglassing car bodies.

Looked like this http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/sto ... =202077814

Product Weight (lb.) : 0.15625
Product Width (in.) : 0.5

there was no way it was a half inch thick, maybe a 16th or an 8th of an inch

Its kind of a pain to get mutliple layers to stick once one has dried you will need to scratch the shit out of the lower layer with some ruff grit paper. one layer should be enough for what your running.

If you need to add layers once it dried, you need to hit it with some 60-80 grit and rough up the surface real good first.

You're probably fine with what you have though.

WHy does everyone say 3+ layers?
We layed 2 more layers today, its pretty good got a few bubbles just grinded em out.
I used a grinder before i layed the new fiberglass so it was rough lol.
I have a few tiny bubbles i need to grind out now and then bondo em.

Because everyone else is retarded. Can you bend or break it with your hand? if not a tiny ass speaker aint gonna do shit. People generalize the shit out of stuff like this. If your structure is good and the mat you used is heavy type mat one layer is fine. Most boats are only 2-3 layers and they take more pounding than Pam Anderson asshole on Saturday night.

What he said.

I believe on my pods I did fleece and 1-2 layers of mat, they did perfectly fine.

You need to use enough layers so the sides of the enclosure are rigid (and sealed!) - you don't want the fiberglass to move when it's under pressure. Usually 3 layers makes a good, rigid enclosure.
