OK, so I needed a daily driver so I picked this up from my sister. It's a 95 explorer sport, 2 door, 2wed, 4.0, auto. It has a ton of miles on it (285,xxx), but it still runs good as it's been well maintained. I'm going to do a few little things just to make it my own (93-97 ranger fog light valance, roll pan, mustang bullitt wheels, darker tint, a decent system, etc. There's a little bit of rust on the rocker panels, I'm going to fix that and paint from the best line down Black.

That long? Nah, I'll probably keep it until it breaks. Then I'll talk about dropping a 5.0 and 5 speed in it, but probably never will. I really do like it though, it's been in our family for a long time and it's been a jewel!

A little back history on this one.

My sister was going through an intersection and somebody ran a red light and ripped the front of her car off (nobody was hurt thank god.)
The insurance companies took forever to cut the check, so after a few weeks she decided to find something cheap to drive until she got the check.

One day she called me and said "Hey, I found this explorer with 19x,xxx miles on it (craigslist), the guy only wants $1,500 for it."
I tried talking her out of it because it had a ton of miles, but she fell in love with it (it was super clean at the time), so I said I'd go look at it with her.

We get up there and it turns out the guy was the original owner and the explorer was CLEAN and ran great. I jewed the guy down to 1,100 or 1,200 and off we went.

We put a used alternator on it, a ball joint, 2 tie rods, front end alignment and front brakes pads.... and that's about it. That was about 4 years ago, and it now has 285,000 miles on it... and the odometer gets moody and stop working every now and again, so it's probably closer to 300,000.

Still runs great and has ice cold a/c. I'm curious to see how long I can make it last. :D

I really like those models of explorers. I drove a Meat truck for a small meat company for about 2 years, and I drove one of the trucks that was about the same year. When I got the truck it had 260xxx ish and when I got my other truck back the older one had well over 300k. so yeah you can get some mileage out of them. And the funny thing it was one of the oldest trucks of the fleet but it was the best running and had the coldest a/c.

Im cheering for ya, you can easily make the 300k mark
