time for a couple small changes

Well, I changed out the Pioneer P9 head and signal processor for a P99RS head unit. Next I think I'm going to pull the orion amp I'm using for the front stage, and change to a JL Audio g6600 6-channel amp, and go fully active.

After those changes, I'll be running the pioneer dex-p99rs to the JL g6600, and from that straight to the dynaudio system 360 components (no more passive filter networks) and from the pioneer to the orion 2250szx bridged, to the Fi Q18 sealed.

It'll be interesting to get to play with the auto-EQ and TA settings for the p99rs with all 8 channels hooked up.

that's badass. Looks like that P99RS will control just about anything you can imagine! just curious, i know you're particular about your equipment; any reason why you went with the G-Series? is it b/c of the unregulated power supply? or just b/c they're not as insanely priced as the HD or Slash series? or does JL not make another 6 ch amp? i hear the G-Series are about the same as the Slash, except for the unregulated power supply.

amp is cheap because its been discontinued
its class AB
its from a reputable manufacturer
its got an unregulated power supply
it's got the power range I wanted (75W x 6 @ 4 ohms)
it's one of the only 6-channel amps (fully class AB) I could find.

That sounds like a horrible idea. If you want my opinion, you aught to sell all that junk to me real cheap and just start from scratch. I could use some more paper weights around here anyway. ;-)

Yeah I may do that.. may just dump the car, too. I wouldn't do it unless I can find me some good classic Kraco amps, though. I won't settle, this time!

If it comes down to that, and I'm not happy with the output, I'll bridge four of the channels on the JL, and run 75x2 to the tweeters, 110x2 to the midrange, and throw my old Orion 2125SX back into the car and run 2x125 to the midbass.
Hell I might even hunt around for an old Orion SX series 4 channel ap and try using that in place of the JL, and run 3 Orion SX series to get the 8 channels. That or look around for 2 older SX series 2-channel amps, like a pair of 2150SX amps, and use one each to the midrange and midbass, with the 2125 on the tweeters. I'm not sure the tweeters would like that much juice though. Maybe I need a 275SX.

I'm not starting a junk yard or anything, but I suppose I could do you a favor and take the car too. Sometimes being a nice guy and doing people favors is really a pain in the arse. ;-) I'll keep an eye open for some classic Kracos too. You know me, always trying to help.
