Integrated to Dedicated Graphics?

Is it possible to install a dedicated graphics card into a PC that was built with integrated graphics?

I'd like to upgrade to a 23-24" LED backlit monitor but if I'm unable to upgrade to a better graphics card, I don't really see the logic behind doing so.

This is the PC I have. HP a6228x specifications

I know it needs improvements in other areas as well, so I was trying to figure out if I should make upgrades to what I have or wait and start with better bones.

I really only use my PC for the internet, videos and music and stuff. But I use it alot and I wouldn't might having a better display.

And if you look at the specs and notice something that could easily be improved please feel free to mention it. I wouldn't mind if I had a faster better working computer.

Thanks!

as long as you have a slot for it you should be fine. Usually PCI or AGP

Ok, thanks, cool.

I had to do a search to learn about PCI and AGP but now I got it. So I searched the specs of the motherboard and it has these for expansion slots...

-Two PCI

-One PCI Express x16 graphics

-One PCI Express x1 (for cards such as network, sound, tv-tuner)

Here are the motherboard specs

So, I'll need a card that is compatible with PCI X16, correct?

And will it matter if I go with the 2.0 version of video card?

Also, does it matter if I go with DDR2 or DDR3 memory for the video card? I'm just not sure because the motherboard specs read DDR2 memory.

Ok, so I just read that a 2.0 card will work fine.

Ok, just read that using a DDR3 RAM video card with a DDR2 motherboard if fine.

For sure. I've been looking at a few and I think I found a good 750 watt 80% efficient PSU. It think my hp's power supply is a 300 watt.
