Imma give it 2 thumbs up. Clarity is amazing and the extra stations are very very nice. Very happy with my purchase.
I bought a Kenwood KDC-HD942U and i couldnt be happier. If you were thinking of getting it but u weren't sure, i would highly recommend it.

Ya the HD radio is nice- IF there are stations that are doing it in your local area.
It was a bit over hyped though. I believe it will die off eventually.

I highly doubt it. The FCC is forcing everyone off the analog bans to free up emergency freq's. Started with cell phones then tv and now radio. Id say about 80% of the stations in my area are broadcasting in HD many of which have multiple stations.
Which unit did you use hd radio with ryan?

It was the directed Tuner.
I heard that the HD was only forced for TVs with no intention to force Radio out. Havent heard of a cutoff date, yet. The HD TV for instance, I heard a cutoff date 5 years before it happened.

There isn't a cut off date on radio but they are urging stations into it. I think once most people get a chance to listen to it most will be making the switch.

I ditched my unit.
The "benefits" they claim is over rated.
The only thing I can say for certain:
AM sounds amazing- like FM.
The reception SUCKS. Unless you are fairly close to towers the HD channels are unavailable or have some sort of a funky static to them.

That's interesting... you realize that static is impossible with HD Radio? Specifically which directed unit did you use? Ive also had much better reception than with any normal radios I'm picking up stations i never used to get infact i got a station out of Columbus this morning.

Directed only had one unit, DHMD-1000 or something.
I posted it in product review.
Sure they static is impossible, but they lie.
The unit would fade out of HD and you could get static.
The HD signal is weaker than the regular FM, just like TV...

They Lie?
Wut?
Please explain to me how HD signal is weaker than FM?
FWIW I have not had any static in probably about 8 hours of listening.

Maybe my memory is a bit lacking.
Re-reading my review its when it fades out of HD. If its an HD channel and the channel isnt strong enough it was just silence.
No way to explain the reception issue, just a matter of experience.
The closer I was to the broadcasting towers the better the strength. Once I got far enough away from said towers HD channels would drop off BUT the regular FM channels were fine. Actually they sounded perfect. So I draw the conclusion here. Couple that up with the fact that TV HD signals are weaker than the analog... And you have my argument.
I dont know how you are pulling signals from Columbus. Nuts.
I get one channel out of Detroit/Canada- but its probably because Im somewhat close to the lake.
