..just cant be! So ive got an Fi BL 12" and the MB Quart 1000.1 Discus (thank you bill) and for a while now, the only way to get the sub to get to its full potential was to set the subwoofer setting [refer to photo #2 below] at +5 and the bass boost on the amp all the way up @ 9db. Due to fear of clipping my sub i chose to set the gain to match the headunit (2.2v) and turned the bass boost all the way off. now, there is almost no bass whatsoever. The Headunit is the Pioneer AVH5700dvd. i just dont understand what is wrong. i wish i had the know how to troubleshoot it myself- but i dont, so thats why im here
any help would be greatly appreciated
Here is a photo of the amp settings, the gain is set to almost the middle. 6v on the lowest and .2 at the highest

Photo of the head unit settings

current setup position (louder then the last way i had it)

mounted to back of seat. stealth mode ftw
to answer any statements about the cosmetics of the box. yes i know i screwed it up, furious install @ 3am with no light source other then a phone and the sub didnt fit right. will be taking carpet from the bottom w. an xacto knife to replace the carpet lost on the top.

I would check the cords... Sometimes a Faulty RCA can be the problem when delivering the signal to the amp... Try a different cord first and then move on to possible other problems.

when its at max potential (+5 to 9db on the amp) it still hits 137.6 db playin gucci mane- that girl i think i love her and it feels amazing. sound quality is pretty good as well. i just dont want to clip it. so i doubt it could be the rcas

Without reading the manual, but the HU may be the culprit here.
You need to look into it. I see the level is at 0. Now the question here is simple. Is the output level of the HU a "boosted" signal or is it an attenuated signal?
If its boosted then you are correct at setting it at 0. You dont want to boost the volume levels.
If its an attenuation you are wrong here. You are killing the voltage at that point.
Im not familiar with that amp at all.
If your close to Bill you would be best off to let him have a wiggle with it.
He did the box so he should be able to tell you where the F3 point is on it. I see you mention 20 Hz, which may be that point...? The Fs is a bit high on that sub, so 20 Hz might be a little on the low side... But like I said Bill should be able to get you a proper F3.

update: took sub out to sand down the edges to fit the rubber surround thing over the screws to make it look better and i saw a rip in the spider. note the green area of the photo below. hopefully its still under warranty. i received it on the 15th of September. so it hasn't even been that long

ditto! That's never happened to me. I'm sure it is still under warranty but just make sure you have all your appropriate purchasing documents and you should be all set.
